Twelve Days of Christmas Tips

On the first day of Christmas, my dietitian said to me…

Bring ONE dish to share

A low-calorie, nutritious choice for the meal, preferably veggie or fruit-based.

TWO alcoholic beverages

Sticking to two drinks limits our liquid calories.

THREE yummy cookies

Have a few cookies, but don’t overdo it.

FOUR fruits for snacking

When hungry, try to choose a serving of fruit instead of sweets.

FIVE veggies each day

Get all the phytonutrients by meeting the daily minimum.

SIX feet from the buffet

This will help prevent mindless eating by moving away to converse.

SEVEN days of exercise

Don’t forget to move your body regularly during the holidays.

EIGHT glasses of water

Daily, especially before and during parties.

NINE ounces of protein

That is the equivalent of three 3-ounce portions of lean meat.

TEN pounds we won’t gain

By sticking to a healthy routine.

ELEVEN new choices

If we try one new healthy food per month, we will eat more variety.

TWELVE counted blessings
