Did you charge your battery last night? I’m sure most people would say, “Yes. I plugged my phone in last night before I went to bed.” I’m actually not talking about your phone, I’m talking about YOU!!!!
I recently got a new watch and one of the features it has is called a Body Battery. This Body Battery gives you a number which lets you know if you are ready to do a workout for the day or if you should take it easy. We don’t think twice about the need to charge our cellphones, especially when we get the low battery notification because it wouldn’t work otherwise. But did you ever consider your own energy level and how vital it is? It’s a limited resource. You may believe otherwise, but you cannot be ALL the things to ALL the people. You cannot be an effective worker, friend, significant other, spouse, parent, etc. if you are wiped out.
It seems like I have been seeing a lot of people in my office lately who are trying to do ALL the things. On top of trying to do all the things, they’re also trying to lose weight, but they get frustrated because they end up doing none of the things.
It’s time to make yourself a priority and charge your own battery by making sure you get enough sleep at night. Prioritize the time to make healthy meals for yourself and actually take the time to eat them, don’t skip your lunch break. Start setting those boundaries and learn to say no if it’s going to start impacting how you charge your battery.
